Nollywood star Iyabo Ojo has forcefully shut down rumours claiming she was arrested in Abuja, releasing a fiery video in which she condemns her critics and labels the allegations as baseless.
The rumours, which spread quickly across social media, suggested that Ojo had been detained by security operatives. In her live video response, the actress appeared on set and emphasized that she had been working throughout the day, insisting there was no arrest, no detention, and no encounter with authorities.
Visibly angered, Ojo lashed out at those she accused of fabricating the story, calling them “attention seekers” and warning them against using her name to peddle falsehoods. She urged the public to be cautious about sharing unverified claims, stressing that misinformation can be damaging and deeply irresponsible.
Adding clarity to the situation, the Nigeria Police Force also issued a statement debunking a viral “wanted” poster featuring her image. The authorities described the poster as fake, confirming that no warrant had been issued against her.
Ojo has recently faced a wave of speculation linking her to a controversial gossip platform allegations she continues to firmly deny. According to the actress, such rumours are part of a broader pattern of targeted attempts to tarnish her reputation.
As the dust settles, the episode highlights the speed at which false narratives can spread online and the pressure public figures face in combating digital misinformation.
