Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe has advised young women to focus on building themselves before seeking relationships with wealthy partners, stressing the importance of self-worth and independence in today’s society.
Speaking during a recent interview, Arukwe noted that many young women tend to prioritize financial stability in their choice of partners without first developing their own goals, skills, or careers. He described self-development as the foundation of confidence and mutual respect in any relationship.
According to him, “Before looking for a rich partner, build yourself. Have something you can proudly call your own. When you bring value to the table, you attract the right kind of person who respects and supports your vision.”
The actor, known for his roles in Sergeant Tutu and Hire a Woman, emphasized that financial independence empowers women to make better decisions in relationships and avoid dependency that often leads to exploitation or emotional abuse.
Arukwe also encouraged young people both men and women to pursue education, entrepreneurship, and personal growth as a way to contribute positively to society. “A relationship should be about partnership, not survival,” he added.
His message has resonated widely on social media, where many fans praised him for promoting self-respect and personal development over materialism.
