From Reality TV to Nollywood: Danboskid Reflects on Landing ‘Tinsel’ Role Post BBNaija Exit

Former Big Brother Naija housemate Danboskid has opened up about his unexpected transition into Nollywood, revealing that he landed an audition for the long-running television drama Tinsel just one day after his eviction from the reality show.

In a recent interview, the budding actor described the experience as both surreal and life changing, noting that the opportunity came at a time when he was still processing his exit from the Big Brother Naija house.

“I got the audition call for Tinsel the day after I left the Big Brother house,” Danboskid said. “I was still trying to catch my breath, trying to understand the whirlwind I had just come out of, and boom I got a message to come in and audition. I almost didn’t believe it.”

According to Danboskid, the quick turnaround between reality TV and professional acting felt like a sign. He described the moment as a clear reminder that every platform including a reality show can serve as a stepping stone to something greater.

“Some people assume reality TV is the end of the road, but for me, it was just the beginning,” he said. “Getting that role on Tinsel affirmed that I was on the right path. It gave me the confidence to keep pushing.”

Danboskid now joins a growing list of reality TV stars making successful transitions into Nollywood a trend that reflects the increasing crossover between entertainment sectors in Nigeria. Shows like Tinsel, which has been a staple on African television for over a decade, have become launching pads for new talent while continuing to feature veteran actors.

Speaking about his acting journey, Danboskid acknowledged that the shift from being a reality TV personality to a professional actor comes with its own challenges. “It’s a different kind of pressure. On reality TV, people get to know your personality. In Nollywood, you’re stepping into characters. You have to study, you have to train, and you have to earn your place.”

The former housemate revealed that he is currently undergoing intensive acting training and hopes to take on more diverse roles in the near future. He also hinted at other projects in the works, including short films and web series collaborations with notable Nollywood directors.

Fans of both Big Brother Naija and Tinsel have welcomed his crossover with enthusiasm, flooding social media with messages of support and anticipation. His appearance on the show has already drawn in new audiences, further boosting his profile in the entertainment industry.

Danboskid’s story is a reminder of the doors that can open after the Big Brother stage and a testament to the importance of staying prepared for the unexpected.

“I’m just getting started,” he said. “And I’m grateful for the platform, the timing, and the opportunity to grow.”
