President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigerians to embrace unity, strengthen their faith, and commit to the collective renewal of the nation, as the country joins Christians around the world in celebrating Easter.
In a message released by the Presidency on Easter Sunday, Tinubu reflected on the spiritual significance of the season, describing it as a time for national introspection and reaffirmation of shared values.
“Easter reminds us that even in our darkest moments, hope can be restored, and a new beginning is possible. As a nation, we must draw from that lesson choosing unity over division, faith over fear, and courage over despair,” the president said.
While acknowledging the economic and security challenges confronting the country, Tinubu called on citizens not to give in to hopelessness but to work together in building a more inclusive and prosperous Nigeria.
“The challenges we face are real, but so too is our capacity to overcome them. We are a people of great resilience and strength. Let this Easter season renew our commitment to the ideals that bind us as one nation under God,” he said.
The president emphasized that the resurrection of Jesus Christ symbolizes the triumph of life over death and serves as a powerful reminder of the redemptive possibilities in moments of adversity.
He also used the opportunity to reaffirm his administration’s commitment to reforms aimed at stabilizing the economy, improving national security, and fostering equitable development across all regions.
“We are taking deliberate steps to reposition our economy, improve security, and create opportunities for our youth. It is not an easy road, but with unity and faith, we will get there together,” Tinubu assured.
The Easter message was met with mixed reactions across the country. While many religious leaders praised the tone of reconciliation and hope, some civil society groups called for more urgent action on the part of government to address widespread hardship and rising cost of living.
Nonetheless, Tinubu’s address was seen as an effort to foster national cohesion at a critical juncture in Nigeria’s democratic journey.
As Nigerians celebrate Easter with family, friends, and faith communities, the president encouraged all to extend love, compassion, and kindness to one another.
“Let this season inspire us to be better citizens, more loving neighbours, and more faithful stewards of the blessings God has bestowed upon our land,” he said.
